Welcome!
to our Wings for Two Year Olds Page.
WINGS
Our learning journey starts with our two year olds. We have 16 places for our children who are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare providing children with a firm foundation for starting school by developing their independence, communicating and social skills. The learning journey for the children is planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The learning is always led by the interest of the children.
This year we have covered Autumn, Winter, Spring , weather, all about us, festivals and numbers. The activities are carefully planned to excite and engage the children and develop their key skills particularly communication and language, physical development and their social skills.
We have a different focus at the end of our sessions everyday:-
Write Dance
Tummy Time
Story Time
Number Rhymes
Physical fun – throwing, catching and climbing
We have special listening times
We share our thoughts and ideas
We are always having fun!
The environment inside and out is stimulating and the staff are welcoming. Parents and carers love
the Wings group, they say they feel their child is making very good progress and this will stand
them in good stead throughout the rest of their learning.
The focus is primarily on the characteristics of effective learning.
Playing and exploring
Finding out and exploring
Using what they know in their play
Being willing to have a go
Active Learning
Being involved and concentrating
Keep on trying
Enjoying achieving what they set out to do
Creating and Learning
Having their own ideas
Using what they already know to learn new things
Choosing ways to do things and finding new ways
Staff in the unit provides opportunities to encourage the children to develop these characteristics.
This is achieved through the resources that are provided and adult intervention and modelling.
